It seems that Fall has arrived at last--in the midst of fall break. I wonder if it will last?
I hadn't expected to be doing much of anything unusual for fall break, but I was quite deluded. In fact, Dad had all sorts of intriguing travel plans which popped up when I least expected them, to my astonishment! But I really enjoyed having an unpredictable and spontaneous weekend for once.
A short summary of our fun fall break:
Saturday we went to Fort Worth for an airshow including the Sky Soldiers and the Blue Angels. It was really cool and a lot of fun!
Sunday we went to Shady Lake, Arkansas, to visit seven families from our church who were camping there. Here is the lake's spillway:
We stayed the afternoon and evening and engaged in all sorts of outdoorsy activities. Two of the ladies took me and several other girls up to a creek where we could swim. It was unbelievably frigid, but we had a blast!
On Monday my good friend Sarah came over for the afternoon, and I had orchestra practice, which I love.
Today I did school and practiced my flute, then Dad took me out for lunch and coffee for my birthday (it's a tradition). We had such a nice time together!
Overall, we had a wonderful (extended) weekend. I enjoyed all the driving we did, especially to Arkansas. For some reason, I really enjoy long trips in the van--I like just being with my family, and having time to read and relax, and looking at the beautiful scenery and getting excited all over again about God's creativity!
I hope you all had a wonderful fall break!
