I spent ten minutes on FreeRice.com, donated 1,000 grains of rice to an impoverished family, and learned a whole bunch of new words, including but not limited to the following:
Roger contemplated various mentations related to a virulent strain of a previously unknown plague: the Macropterous mothimus de verdant en coiffure. He knew that he had no choice but to propound a solution to the citizens in the villages contiguous to his own, but Roger was nervous, as always. He might seem disputatious if he declared his cure, since several older and wiser men had already tried to cure the plague. Deep in contemplation, Roger picked up an apple and bit into it. The apple was vermiculate! What a lamentable situation.
mentation=thought
virulent = deadly
macropterous = large-winged
verdant = green
coiffure = hairdo
propound = set forth
contiguous = adjacent
disputatious = argumentative
vermiculate = wormy
lamentable = distressing
And my fictitious plague (the Macropterous mothimus de verdant en coiffure) is something to this effect: Large-winged moths of green in hair. Sounds awful, but perhaps not virulent!
