I have a tendency to hear things wrong when I'm not fully concentrating. When this happens, Dad says I have carrots in my ears. So, here are my latest hearing mistakes:
I remember once I was up past midnight baking a cake. I had the radio tuned to the Christian station and the deejay announced a song by Twila Paris called "My Lips Shall Praise Thee." I was in the midst of flouring the pan and thought he said Twila Paris was singing "My Lips Go Crazy!"
My most recent mishap was in class today (English Comp I at LeTU). I was talking with the student next to me about a quiz we were about to take. He was going over the Three Rhetorical Appeals--they are ethos, logos, and pathos. Meanwhile, I was logging into the computer. So when he said "I have to remember ethos, logos, and pathos,"
I thought he said "I have to remember to eat those slow-roasted tacos." I asked him to repeat himself, because tacos don't seem to have much to do with an English quiz! We got a good laugh out of it.
I wonder how often we miss out on hearing the truth of what God is saying because we aren't really listening? How sad it would be to miss out on some wonderful word He had for our lives!
"Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints..." Psalm 85:8 ESV

Wow, Julia, this could be dangerous!
I know... I have to be careful! It usually is merely amusing, though.
as soon as i saw your title, i immediately heard a song in my head. it's one that the men's (er well boys at the time) choir did for our region competition and concert about 10 or 11 years ago. it's called "the awakening" by joseph m. martin... here's a video of the song... it's a litte different than we did it, but it's still good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?
